What a frightening turn of events. Kudos to the county and local police for their professionalism and respectful demeanor. Shame on the Michigan State Police. Sadly, these immature bullying antics are the norm from the Jonesville post.

"We have a tendency when we come to a crime scene to take more than we really need," he said. "You never know when you get to a scene that's full of chaos, confusion and tumult what item is going to blow the case wide open."

This is a joke, right?

This is an absolute atrocity. Since leaving the college last spring and falling out of the loop, I decided to meander back to the collegian to see what is happening. This is not what I wanted to see. The state police have always had it out for the college kids, specifically fraternities, while the local police have always been realistic. I remember when they (effing staties) ran into the ATO house, woke people up and brethalyzed them. It´s like for some reason they decide one night to go raid college kids. Underage drinking happens EVERY NIGHT AT HILLSDALE COLLEGE, and we´ve had almost no incidents in the last 5 years. It´s NOT a problem (as compared to other schools) so leave us alone unless something major is happening (like people driving).

And, Matt, right on with calling out that quote. They surely did blow a case wide open. I can´t wait to see this on on Law and Order - an example of legendary detective work by the men in blue!

Is that slovenly state trooper that likes to dress in full black paramilitary gear still trolling around the area? If so, I sure his cheeto-stained fingers were instrumental in stopping these heinous crimes from being perpetrated at a FRAT HOUSE on a COLLEGE campus.

Rifling through one's personal contacts to single out others for arrest and prosecution is literally a Gestapo tactic.

Alcohol continues to be a problem in colleges...we're never going to get rid of it completely, but we can reach out to make a difference

So what's the rest of the story? The Collegian had and FOI Act request, what did they find? I think the state police need to take a trip up to East Lansing or Ann Arbor if they want to find students doing things the shouldn't be. Even if there are some minor infractions of the law going on, I'd prefer that our law enforcement go after the significant ones rather than the pidly ones reported on. I'm actually quite shocked that the police were able to garner a warrant. If I were a judge, I'd be pissed at the police and say "give me a break and let me go back to sleep". Seriously poor judgement on the part of the state troopers. They should be admonished.

A warrant? Really? Is that really what the police should be focusing on - raiding frat houses?
