Metaphysical Rock? physical realization? The wasteland of pragmatism? Mr. Morgan I disagree with your opinion on multiple key points, including your ill-founded belief in truth (with a capital T), but what disgusts me more then your opinion is your unbelievable ignorance. Mr. Morgan you do not know what pragmatism is; you do not know what prudence is; you do not know what metaphysics are. Mr. Morgan I implore you to take a little more then Intro to Philosophy before toying with loaded terms that you obviously lack mastery of.

The same forces which in the last century spawned the sexual revolution, the welfare state, and destruction of the American family have arrived at Hillsdale College.

By its own constitution and articles of association, this college was founded on Judeo-Christian principles. Hillsdale exists as a beacon of Christian liberty, but we are not immune to the rising tide of secular modernism. Those who would strip the college of its heritage and those who would strip America of its heritage are one and the same.

The existence of this organization is in conflict with the College's mission statement, which reads "The College values the merit of each unique individual, rather than succumbing to the dehumanizing, discriminatory trend of so called "social justice" and "multicultural diversity," which judges individuals not as individuals, but as members of a group and which pits one group against other competing groups in divisive power struggles."

Arising among the forces of identity politics and moral relativism, any gay-straight alliance is neither classical nor liberal. What is clear is that social progressives trying to hide as classical liberals don't represent classical liberal ideas. Instead, they promote a philosophy that is neutered, lawless, and libertine.

Most disturbing, the incorporation of the "CDGSI" under the 'auspices' of CLO is nothing more than an attempt to circumvent the established process by which the college has required that all existing student organizations – from Catholic Society to SIFE to College Democrats – be aligned with its mission statement. Student Federation should revisit the Classical Liberal Organization's club status in view of CLO's newly adopted subsidiary to determine if CLO is operating outside of its original, approved purpose.

In doing so, they should look to the legal concept of 'substance over form.' Morgan has made a clever attempt to establish the Gay-Straight Alliance by a different name. In form, the Gay-Straight Alliance may have been altered; in substance, it has not.

Or perhaps the form and name have not been altered after all. Morgan and Stolyarov's now public dispute over the title, status, and purpose of the gay-straight entity should raise concern in student government and college administration over its legitimacy. By declining to publicly comment on the CLO/GSA/CDGSI debacle, the administration has done nothing to clarify confusion in the minds of Hillsdale's students and all of us who are stakeholders in this institution.
