As the lights go down in dens, bedrooms and dorm lobbies across America, students grab for the popcorn and shush their friends. They've waited months for this.

No, they aren't watching the DVD release of the summer flick they were too poor to see in theaters. Instead, they're tuning in to the fall return of their favorite TV shows.

"Grey's Anatomy," "The Office," and "Heroes," among others, return this week for fresh new episodes that offer answers to the cliffhangers they ended with in the spring.

Although for some, just being reunited with their favorite characters is reason enough to watch.

Sophomore Eric Coykendall said that it is the reason he's looking forward to "The Office."

"At first it was just funny, but after a while I got into the characters," he said, "Eventually you care more about them than about it being funny."

Junior Lauren Hildreth agreed.

"All the characters are so true to life," she said.

This year, students enthusiastic about one show in particular. The NBC hit "The Office" is being thrown a "welcome back" party tonight, September 27th at 7:45p.m. in Olds Dormitory. The season premier will be shown on two televisions, with snacks and drinks provided.

Sophmore Hannah Falldorf, the party's organizer, said she can't wait for the show's return.

"I don't usually watch any TV, but I've been stuck on it since May," Falldorf said. "I've never met anyone who doesn't like 'The Office'."

The idea for the party came to Falldorf, a resident assistant, as she was trying to drum up exciting dorm-wide events for the upcoming weeks.

"The show is definitely going to be the main focus of the party," she said.

According to Falldorf, people got together in Olds to watch "The Office" Thursday nights all throughout last year. "We'd like it to be a regular thing again this year," she said.

"Every Thursday, 20 to 40 people would get together in Olds [to watch]," Coykendall said, counting himself among their number. "So we just made it into a tradition."
